This week's go-round put us at a little bit more than a centimeter.
At this rate, we'll have a kid in about September or so. Maybe the house will be ready by then.
So much for the house though - I'm about ready.
I'm tired of my elders asking if I'm in labor whenever they talk to me.
I'm ready for getting out of bed without looking like a beached whale and peeing in a cup without peeing everywhere else too. Add the slightly less embarrassing truimph of placing socks and shoes on feet you can barely see/reach and I'll be good to go. If I could only wear flip flops to work.
Oh the joys that nobody tells you about.
Now if I could only get my husband to learn infant CPR and choking rescue.
And an answer to the question - can this belly get any bigger?!?!
Oh yeah - and what am I missing - I know I'm missing SOMETHING for the baby or for me.
Who knows - I'll realize it at 3 in the morning when either the kid is wailing or I am.

And holding steady at 1/2 an inch
Week 37 - 1cm dialated, no effacement, no antibiotics during labor (Group B test came back negative). I have been feeling okay - big - I look in the mirror every morning and wonder how big I can get - and every morning it seems to be a little bit bigger! I'm getting uncomfortable when sitting or driving and I have to lean forward. This week one of the docs and I went over the birth preferences list that I had written. Nothing too out of the norm, but it answered the questions that I was wondering about.
So, 0-5 weeks. At this point if I go into labor, not likely, I'll be allowed to continue. And if I don't, 5 weeks will probably lead to induction or something. Not too worried about that at this point.
I'm still working and today just wasn't a good work day - the day the weekly exams for the last two weeks have been tired kind of work days.
That must means its nap time.
Happy Saturday!

the beginning of a journey starts with half an inch
Week 36 - The shower is done, the thank you notes are written (and sitting in a pile waiting to be mailed). What's left? Well, another month (plus or minus) of trying to get more work done on the house before the kiddo makes his appearance. The doctor's appointments are now weekly and I have instructions for when to call the office. I'm one centimeter dialated (and can be for the next month) and all the stats are where they should be.
T-minus ????? and almost ready to go.

Amy and the Kicky Kiddo
Whew! I got startled in the middle of the night (new house, new noises) and the baby took an adrenaline hit or something - 3:30-4:30 kick-kick-kick-kick-kick-kick-kick. So what's a girl to do? That's right - snuggle up to her hubby and let him feel his son go nuts.
The last week or so has been okay. The hours at work have been limited, so I've been putting in some time at home unpacking, getting stuff done. Getting the renter/homeowners association thing worked out (over a scooter people, a scooter!) Everybody best be happy now, 'cuz you get what you get after today (a small ramp and pavers near the house for parking - but you can't park the thing in a parking space?!?!)
I haven't been nesting per say - but just trying to get stuff in its place. We're at about 5.5 weeks left and it just feels like too much of a deadline. Moving as a preggo definitely has its disadvantages.
Well, it has been a busy one here, and it's going to be an early one tomorrow - so off to bed.

Amy and the Rough Day
For the first time in a while, I had a rough day. One of those days where nothing was wrong, per-se, but just wasn't right. I had trouble waking up for a good part of the day and just finished a two hour nap, just to catch up. Although the nap felt good, I still feel like I'm not awake enough. I haven't worked more than a 8 hour day this week, so that feels pretty nice (compared to the 11's that I was pulling the week before). There is a student working in the kitchen with us during the day so we have been getting out around 3:30 or so - which leads you to believe that there is a whole world of other stuff out there. Like painting, and working on the checklist of stuff to be done pre-baby - birth plan anyone?
Well, back to it - have to find a higher energy level around here somewhere.

Happy Mother's Day
Sometimes even your own mother can point something out that you didn't realize.
She let me know that my son is a righty - I didn't even think of it looking at the ultrasound pic.

Dessert Girl, Part 11?
Who knows what number we're up to in training and keeping a dessert girl (in the one year that I have been working at the restaurant).
There have been quite a few - walter, kiev, laura, laurel, meredith, dan, the guy that got demoted from garde manager, and a short list of one-dayers that didn't hack it.
This one is a real trip, welcome robin.
I worked an 11.5 hour shift today because somebody doesn't know what the hell she is doing after 3 weeks, refusal to take notes on how to do the job and utter ineptitude.
It doesn't take a rocket scientist. Really. You have to have a pulse and a little motivation to do the job. I'm fairly certain that she has a pulse. That's about it, a pulse maybe.
Other than that, she is an idiot. Not to mention slow. And annoying (asking the same questions, even though the answers should be written in a notebook that she refuses to bring, stating things that have no relevence, general stupidity).
In the first time in a year, the first that I have seen, Chef has dumbed down the plate designs and has allowed her to use squiggles - a pet peeve of the boss-man.
Oh the joy!
