Amy and the Kicky Kiddo

Whew! I got startled in the middle of the night (new house, new noises) and the baby took an adrenaline hit or something - 3:30-4:30 kick-kick-kick-kick-kick-kick-kick. So what's a girl to do? That's right - snuggle up to her hubby and let him feel his son go nuts.
The last week or so has been okay. The hours at work have been limited, so I've been putting in some time at home unpacking, getting stuff done. Getting the renter/homeowners association thing worked out (over a scooter people, a scooter!) Everybody best be happy now, 'cuz you get what you get after today (a small ramp and pavers near the house for parking - but you can't park the thing in a parking space?!?!)
I haven't been nesting per say - but just trying to get stuff in its place. We're at about 5.5 weeks left and it just feels like too much of a deadline. Moving as a preggo definitely has its disadvantages.
Well, it has been a busy one here, and it's going to be an early one tomorrow - so off to bed.

Amy and the Rough Day

For the first time in a while, I had a rough day. One of those days where nothing was wrong, per-se, but just wasn't right. I had trouble waking up for a good part of the day and just finished a two hour nap, just to catch up. Although the nap felt good, I still feel like I'm not awake enough. I haven't worked more than a 8 hour day this week, so that feels pretty nice (compared to the 11's that I was pulling the week before). There is a student working in the kitchen with us during the day so we have been getting out around 3:30 or so - which leads you to believe that there is a whole world of other stuff out there. Like painting, and working on the checklist of stuff to be done pre-baby - birth plan anyone?
Well, back to it - have to find a higher energy level around here somewhere.

Happy Mother's Day

Sometimes even your own mother can point something out that you didn't realize.
She let me know that my son is a righty - I didn't even think of it looking at the ultrasound pic.

Dessert Girl, Part 11?

Who knows what number we're up to in training and keeping a dessert girl (in the one year that I have been working at the restaurant).
There have been quite a few - walter, kiev, laura, laurel, meredith, dan, the guy that got demoted from garde manager, and a short list of one-dayers that didn't hack it.
This one is a real trip, welcome robin.
I worked an 11.5 hour shift today because somebody doesn't know what the hell she is doing after 3 weeks, refusal to take notes on how to do the job and utter ineptitude.
It doesn't take a rocket scientist. Really. You have to have a pulse and a little motivation to do the job. I'm fairly certain that she has a pulse. That's about it, a pulse maybe.
Other than that, she is an idiot. Not to mention slow. And annoying (asking the same questions, even though the answers should be written in a notebook that she refuses to bring, stating things that have no relevence, general stupidity).
In the first time in a year, the first that I have seen, Chef has dumbed down the plate designs and has allowed her to use squiggles - a pet peeve of the boss-man.
Oh the joy!

Amy and the Non-Informed Mothers (he he he whooooo)

The all-day long, get it out in one chunk of time, super baby-birthing class. 8:30a-5p
That was today for Kel and I (well, that and packing from then until now).
Sooooo... I was the least furthest along in the class (30 weeks vs. 34-5 - all due in early June).
But I seemed to be the most in the know. Ya know?
So you would think that people would want to read the book, take a peek at what is going to happen to your bod, know what they are in for, after experiencing something new - look it up or ask their doc what is going on, stuff like that right? Nope, the other 12 couples had nothin' on me.
The teacher was sweet and we learned a lot. We got the tour, learned some breathing and laboring techniques, what could go wrong, what to look for in a birthing plan, etc.
The other people in the class were fun but clueless. Chalk it up to a Saturday in Early May.
